Border League

2022 pre-campaign briefing from team captain Alan Gardiner

Alan Gardiner Lindfield will play in the Border League Division One during 2022.
Other teams taking part are Popes Mead, Horley, Dorking, Horsham and Newdigate so strong opposition to test Lindfield so we can look forward to some good competitive matches.

The two teams who find themselves 5th and 6th at the end of the season will be relegated to Division 2.
Matches are played on Thursday evenings with cup matches taking place at weekends. In each match, teams play for 10 points (4 for overall winner and 2 points for each winning rink).
Last season Lindfield struggled for much of the time and only survived relegation by a convincing win against Popes Mead in our last match.

Lindfield has a long history of success in this competition so one of our aims is to re-establish Lindfield as one of the leading teams in the League. I would like to ensure that a good team spirit is developed and to ensure that all players thoroughly enjoy the experience. To achieve this we need a good mix of our club's experienced players and some less experienced players who want to improve their bowling in competitive matches.

Matches are always played in a good spirit and can be closely fought but afterwards there is always opportunity to chat with old and new friends from other clubs over a drink or two and some snacks.

I would encourage you all to please put your names forward on line or on the Availability sheets at the Clubhouse. I cannot promise that everyone will be selected but all names will be considered to ensure hopefully that we can develop a regular set of players to achieve our objectives.

There are also cup matches and in the first round we are drawn against Dorking. These matches are home and away, one rink of 4 at each location, and the aggregate winner going through to the next round. The first match will be played on the morning of 26th June.
