September 2020 friendlies update

 15-Sep-2020  Peter Gacsall

Having been severely restricted in what we have been able to do this season a Lindfield team travelled to Peacehaven to play a triples match - with all the covid precautions taken very seriously. Three triples were skipped by David Glossop, Peter Gacsall and Roger Green. Glossop's triple was ahead for most of the match but dropped a three on the last end to finish 14-14. Peter Gacsall's triple was well behind after the first three ends. There was a chance to narrow the lead on end fifteen when holding five but the opposition skip, having missed his line with his last wood, hit an outer wood that went in to be second. In the last end the jack moved several times but this time Gacsall drew the shot with his last wood to make the score 11-17. Green's rink stayed fairly consistently ahead then with his last wood, the last wood of the whole match, Green managed a perfect draw to win 23-16 and secure the overall match by one shot.

Covid and Corona pairs leagues

 01-Jul-2020  Website Editor

Carol Watson has volunteered to run an internal pairs league, split into two divisions ('Covid' and 'Corona'). We had an enormous turn out for this prestigious event - 40 members - so it is split into two even division of ten pairs.

Each pair will play 9 matches over just under 9 weeks. If desired you can play two or even three matches a week the choice is yours but all matches to be played by 21st August. The first named team to make all the arrangements and book a rink on the website.

This will be normal pairs and you can decide on each game the skip and lead.
Play as many ends as you like but do not start another one after 85 minutes.
First named pair arrange each match, book a rink.
Play is for one and a half hours, no trial ends but 1 on first end ONLY.

A dead end counts as one shot to the opponents.
Toss for jack, NO visiting the head.
Scoring 2 points win, 1 for draw.
In event of bad weather if played 12 ends the game counts, otherwise try to re-arrange.
If necessary a sub may be allowed please contact the organiser.
Usual rules for sanitising but if using pushers one lead pushes one end, the other lead pushes the other end, having sprayed the pusher before and after the game.

Results to Carol Watson by email please!

2020 season disrupted by Coronavirus

 04-May-2020  Website Editor

This has to be the strangest and most disappointing start to an outdoor bowls season in living memory. Due to Covid-19 the bowls club is closed, and there is currently no indication as to when, or if, it will re-open this year. The fixtures list is subject to dramatic change as and when we know whether we'll be able to do any kind of bowling. Watch this space!
