Nail-biting finish to men's county Fours final
Lindfield quartet narrowly miss out
Lindfield's evergreen quartet of Ian Watson, Paul Sandford, Adam Harding and Keith Holman took on Hove & Kingsway in the Sussex Men's Fours final today at Horsham. It was a very low-scoring game, with Lindfield ending up in 2nd place, losing 12-14 after 18 ends. It was a game of 'narrow margins' with crowded heads, the scores were level at the halfway stage but the H&K team were able to pull ahead thanks to some telling woods from their number 2 Richard Moses, which were well backed up by Darren Anderson at 3, leaving Adam and Keith with many headaches. Although Keith in particular delivered several brilliant 'saving' woods, he couldn't pull one last rabbit out of the hat on the last end, as a heavy drive just slid under the head, leaving H&K holding a single shot, and the game. Both teams will compete at Leamington next month, and we wish both teams well in the national finals.

Various results from May/June
A very close finish on Saturday in the National Mixed Fours: 15-all going into the last end against Woodingdean. Our team of Carol Watson, Ian Watson, Sue Willmott and Keith Holman managed to win by one shot and go into the area semi-final against Rottingdean.
Ian and Keith had played the men in the Woodingdean team four times in National and County events and having won two lost two, no score was ever more that two shots in the result, so very competitive games!
Congratulations also to Ian Watson and Keith Holman who have reached the area semi final of the over 60 National pairs championship. Also congratulations to the Tom Francis team who won the first double rink round against Henfield: Peter Elford, Gill Gollop, Steve Noyes and Peter Page as the away team and Chris Reynolds, Barbara Broadway, Mark Broadway and Guy Thornely as the home team.
Another double rink played at the weekend was the National Tony Allcock competition which we won and takes Lindfield into the area semi finals.
